What to Expect

This route runs through an area that plays a key role in preserving habitat connectivity between Bukit Timah, the Central Catchment, and surrounding green corridors. Located beside the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, Chestnut Nature Park (Singapore’s largest nature park) hosts a wide range of wildlife. We will explore the relatively easier, flatter trails within the park’s northern section on the Saturday. While enjoying the leisurely pace and great company of your fellow humanist hikers, do keep an eye out for forest fauna and interesting plant species along the way. The walk concludes at a nearby neighborhood food court, where we can continue our conversations over a hearty meal.

What to Wear and Bring

  • Comfortable hiking shoes (must be covered shoes)
  • Plenty of water (at least 1L)
  • Light snacks or energy bars (optional)
  • Sunscreen, cap, and sleeves
  • Rain gear (e.g. poncho, light rain jacket, or umbrella)
  • Insect repellent

Important Notes

  • Trails include well-paved paths and compact earth with gentle slopes and some uneven sections, suitable for regular walkers with basic fitness.
  • Please wear proper footwear such as track shoes or sneakers. Certain part of the trails can be wet and slippery.
  • Rest stops, water refills, and toilets are available at Chestnut Point.
  • Secure your belongings in your bag, as colourful packages may attract monkeys.
  • Stay calm when encountering wildlife, and keep a safe distance.
  • We will use hiker’s trails as much as possible, but please stay alert for cyclists on shared paths.

Sign up now and enjoy a hiking adventure with your fellow humanists!

We look forward to seeing you on the trail!
