Google Launches Imagen 4 AI Image Generator

Honestly, it’s getting tough to keep track of all the crazy good AI image generators launching every few weeks. At this point, choosing one to actually stick with or even pay for is hard. My personal go-to right now is still GPT-Image-1 from ChatGPT. When I want that crisp, control-heavy experience, I use Flux 1.1 Pro Ultra from Black Forest Labs.

So what makes Imagen 4 special? What does it actually offer besides better image quality?

According to Google, it’s already faster than Imagen 3. A new version coming soon will apparently be up to 10 times faster. I’m curious to see how that plays out in real-world usage, especially when batch-generating images.

They’ve also paid attention in rendering accurate text within images and improved the typography, which is something a lot of models still fumble with. Josh Woodward, who leads Google’s Labs group, mentioned during a press briefing:

“We’ve also [paid] a lot of attention and fixes around how it generates text and topography, so it’s wonderful for creating slides or invitations, or any other thing where you might need to blend imagery and text.”
