HeartCore: Surah Al-Fatihah
A Quran Journaling Retreat
📅 Saturday, 27 September 2025
🕑 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM (SGT)

🪑Registration opens: 2:00 PM | Learners seated by 2:25 PM
In this retreat, we’ll journey through Surah Al-Fatihah, the opener of the Quran, the anchor of our prayers, and a source of healing.
Why Surah Al-Fatihah?
We recite this Surah at least 17 times a day. But how often do we slow down to feel its words... to ask ourselves:
- Have they become routine, but no longer personal?
- What kind of help am I truly longing for, but haven’t asked Allah for?
- What does “Guide us on the Straight Path” look like in my life today?
- If Al-Fatihah was the only Surah I had, would I let it guide my life?
Al-Fatihah is more than a recitation.
It’s a conversation with your Lord.
A plea for help.
A mirror for the heart.
What is a HeartCore Retreat?
This is not just another Islamic class.
It’s a half-day retreat — a space to pause, breathe, and return to your spiritual core by spending time to get to know the Quran.
Each retreat weaves together:
- Refined Recitation (Tahsin) with Ustaz Muhammad Ilyas Al-Hafiz – Slow, intentional group recitation with tajwid corrections
- Healing Reflections with Ustazah Syariati Sulaiman– Spiritual insights on the Surah’s themes (Ustazah Syariati Sulaiman)
- Psychology-Informed Lens with Ustazah Dr Nooraini Abdul Wahab – Emotional and mental healing in Al-Fatihah
- Guided Journaling Prompts – Space to capture your struggles, hopes, and personal connection with Allah’s words
(Tap on names under 'Lineup' below to read more about each Asatizah's profile)
What to Expect
This retreat is a space to learn, reflect, and be renewed. You will:
- Improve your recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
- Pause to reflect on its meaning and how it speaks to your life today.
- Be gently guided with prompts to journal and share (anonymously if you like), and benefit from the perspectives of others in a safe, supportive space.
- Leave with your own reflections, and steps to bring this Surah into your daily life.
Sample Journal Prompts
- What kind of help do I need — and from who?
- Who have I been turning to before Allah?
- Am I walking on the straight path?
No prior knowledge needed.
Just come with your heart, your pen, and your longing to grow closer to Allah.
