Who Can Participate?

We welcome volunteers and participants from all communities that make up Singapore's vibrant social fabric. Whether you're a student, professional, retiree, or anyone passionate about arts and culture, your presence will add to the richness of this collective experience. All ethnicities are welcome!

Question 2

Requirements to join as a PARTICIPANT? (Slots: 100 Pax)

Accepted Answer

Age 17 years old & above, at least 155cm tall, physically healthy and able to stand still for 1 hour. Most importantly, you must NOT be allergic or sensitive to acrylic paint (a layer of petroleum jelly will be applied to protect your skin and hair).

Requirements to join as a PAINTING ASSISTANT? (Slots: 30 Pax)

Accepted Answer

As long as you have some experience with acrylic paint and have a passion for art! (Priority goes to those with a background in fine art or painting)

Question 4

Requirements to join as a PEOPLE MANAGER? (Slots: 10 Pax)

Accepted Answer

Anyone with a friendly smile and love engaging people! Bonus if you have prior experience as an usher or crowd control manager for large scale events.

Question 5

Do I have to be a Singapore Citizen to participate?

Accepted Answer

Not necessary! As long as you are staying in Singapore during the art creation process (16-19 January 2025) and fulfil the basic requirements to be a painter or participant, you're welcome to join us! We also have some participants flying in from overseas just to be part of this event!

Can I invite my peers to join me?

Accepted Answer

Of course! Please ask them to register asap with their CONTACT NUMBER.

Question 7

How long do I have to commit?

Accepted Answer

The full project will take place between 16-19 January 2025 during the Singapore Art Week. We will be splitting the workload into 5-8 hour sessions over 3 days, which you may choose to commit based on your availability. Exact time slots will be provided in a more detailed registration form.

Will I be compensated for my time?

Accepted Answer

While these are unpaid volunteer positions, we provide complimentary refreshments and lunch or stipend (for those involved on 17 Jan 2025 as well as volunteers who signed up for double shifts).

Question 9

Where are the locations?

Accepted Answer

National Gallery Singapore (Jan 16-18) and The Clifford Pier (Jan 19). The resulting artwork will be displayed in a public exhibition at The Fullerton Hotel (Jan 22 - Feb 9).

Is the event still happening if it's raining?

Accepted Answer

Definitely!! All preparations and photoshoot will be completed indoors so it's weather-proof! For National Gallery Singapore, it will take place across 2 days (Jan 17-18). For Clifford Pier, it will be completed in 1 day (Jan 19).

Question 11

What are the slots still available?

Accepted Answer

Date: 17 or 18 Jan 2025 [Fri or Sat]... PARTICIPANTS: 1000-1500 or 1400-1900... PAINTERS: 0900-1400 or 1300-1800... Location: National Gallery Singapore... Briefing of the workflow will commence at your reporting time.

Question 12

For PARTICIPANTS (to be painted): Is the acrylic paint safe on my skin?

Accepted Answer

Participants are required to apply a layer of Vaseline Jelly over all exposed skin and hair to act as a protective barrier before body painting commences. This additional layer will also make the paint easier to rinse off with just plain water. The organisers will prepare Vaseline for everyone.

Question 13

For PARTICIPANTS (to be painted): What will be done to protect my hair?

Accepted Answer

There are 3 ways to protect your hair: [1] Apply Vaseline Jelly over your hair (like it's hair cream). Ladies with long hair will have to tie or bun up. [2] Wear a shower cap secured by cling wrap (provided by organisers). [3] Bring your own swimming cap to get painted over.

Question 14

For PARTICIPANTS (to be painted): How long do I have to stand still for the painting to be done?

Accepted Answer

Just 30 minutes to 1 hour for each person (depending on the complexity of the backdrop). You are free to move around while waiting for the other participants to get their painting done before the photoshoot.

Question 15

For PARTICIPANTS (to be painted): What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

We will provide the outfits (long sleeve top, long pants & shoes) to be painted on. It's recommended to wear casual or sports attire like T-shirt, bermudas (or tights for ladies) that you can wear underneath the outfits that will be painted. It will absorb the paint and won't stain your clothes.

Question 16

For PAINTING ASSISTANTS: Do I need to bring along any art materials?

Accepted Answer

Nope, the organisers will supply all the acrylic paint, brushes and necessary tools. We will also prepare disposable aprons for you to prevent staining.

Question 17

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Water bottle (there's water cooler here to fill it up, but we also have beverages on standby). A light jacket or sweater to keep yourself warm in case it gets chilly indoors during wet weather. Best if you can bring a friend along to create memorable moments with you!
