About this event

Shell and British American Tobacco are both a forward organisation that champion Diversity and Inclusiveness at their workplace; encouraging and empowering their employees to take an innovative approach towards a better tomorrow and sustainable future. 

A recent study by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has found that diversity increases the revenue for companies by 19%. The study found that “diversity of the leadership teams leads to more and better innovation and improved financial performance.

The different aspects of leadership diversity that resulted in positive gains in innovation and revenue include:

  • Managers from different industries
  • Female managers
  • Managers from different nations of origin
  • Externally hired managers with a different career path

In this online fireside chat, our panel of esteemed Business Leaders, Ahmad Bukhari, the Head of HR from Shell Business Operations, and Ivan Jan, National Sales Manager from British American Tobacco will share about how they are embracing diversity and what are some of the initiatives taken to make it part of their culture.

Ahmad Bukhari bin Mohd Yunus is currently the HR Lead for Shell Business Operations Malaysia, one of the five global business service centers in Shell Group. He is responsible for the end-to-end HR delivery and drives the People agenda for more than 2000 employees. With over 15 years of solid experience in the Oil and Gas industry across various HR areas, including HR Business Partner, HR Expertise (Policy, Rewards, Change Management, HR Systems, ER/IR), and HR Operations.

Being passionate and a strong advocate for Diversity & Inclusion as well as Talent Development, Bukhari has been actively involved in a number of initiatives by various government agencies including PEMANDU and MDEC in boosting Malaysian female talent returning to the workforce.

Beyond work, Bukhari enjoys cycling, reading, and spending time with his family. Bukhari and his wife Syiqin are blessed with a teenage son (Beyruni) who is devoted to his online games.

Bukhari holds an MBA (Strategic Management) from the International Islamic University Malaysia and an Engineering Degree from Multimedia University, Malaysia.

Ivan Jan is currently the National Sales Manager for British American Tobacco. He is a Commercial Strategist with 15 years of solid experience in Sales & Marketing in the extremely challenging and regulated tobacco industry in multiple countries.

Ivan advocates for Diversity in his team and believes that it not only boosts innovation, it also improves team dynamics, overall performance and revenue.
