Kantamanto Social Club proudly presents The Hybrid Panel Talk: Before the Bale – The Joy of Prolonging Clothing Life Part of The Kanta To The World Upcycled Fashion Experience at Amsterdam Fashion Week 2025
Join us for a powerful cross-continental dialogue between Amsterdam 🇳🇱 and Toronto 🇨🇦, exploring the hidden realities of donated clothing and the local actions we can take before our garments disappear into the global waste stream.
In Amsterdam:Moderated by Anabel Poh (Co-founder, Kantamanto Social Club), and joined by Etta Lathan-Pons (Etta Studio) and Marite Flores (Co-founder, SWAPMODE), the panel will unpack how creativity, community, and joy can help extend the lives of our clothes.
In Toronto:Suanny Aranguren (Co-founder, The Shared Bag) will join live from Canada to share insights from community-based work around textile reuse and clothing circularity in the Canadian context.
Topics include:– Where do donated clothes actually go?– When do we lose agency over our garments, and why does it matter?– What local options exist for repair, swapping, sharing, and upcycling?– Can slowing down our disposal habits bring more joy than fast consumption ever could?
This hybrid session opens up our livestream portal, bridging fashion realities across cities and challenging us to rethink the moment before the bale, before responsibility is handed off and visibility is lost.
Capacity is limited. RSVP encouraged. Walk-ins welcome as space allows.
