The Hybrid Panel Talk: Crafting Futures with the PastPart of The Kanta To The World Upcycled Fashion Experience at Amsterdam Fashion Week 2025
Join us for an intimate hybrid conversation between Amsterdam 🇳🇱 and Jaipur 🇮🇳, exploring how creative practices and policy interventions can come together to address textile waste, without losing sight of cultural roots and community wisdom.
In Amsterdam:Moderated by Anabel Poh (Co-founder, Kantamanto Social Club), this live session features Oscar Wentz, Netherlands-based upcycler, whose work reimagines post-consumer waste as expressive and reflective material. Together with Anabel, he will reflect on how cities like Amsterdam are integrating (or overlooking) repair cultures, informal knowledge, and localized circularity.
Joining from Jaipur:Bhaavya Goenka, founder of Iro Iro Zero Waste, a circular design studio upcycling post-production textile waste using indigenous Indian craft techniques, shares her vision of circularity as resistance, care, and cultural continuity.
Together, we’ll ask:– What would circularity look like if it were led by craft communities, not corporations?– How can cities like Amsterdam learn from informal and traditional systems?– What policy frameworks are needed to support cultural preservation within sustainability?– How do we build infrastructures that value repair, reuse, and relationships over scale?
This session invites designers, educators, and policymakers to reimagine sustainability, rooted in history, guided by equity, and activated through exchange.
Capacity is limited. RSVP encouraged. Walk-ins welcome as space allows.
This will be our last talk of the series and we will close the portal then, for now!
