Every year, around 11 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean, while the shipping sector emits over 800 million tonnes of CO₂ annually, accounting for roughly 2 to 3 per cent of global anthropogenic emissions. Together, these pressures demand integrated action across the maritime value chain.
