Are you considering careers in consulting or financial services, but unsure if it's a good fit for you? Join us as Brian O'Dwyer (a former Credit Suisse banker, A.T. Kearney consultant, CFO, and entrepreneur) gives an introduction to what these industries entail. Junior Year students who are considering participating in the recruitment process in August-September are strongly encouraged to attend.

About the speaker: Brian O'Dwyer founded 5stepCareers after reviewing 10,000 resumes and interviewing hundreds as a Credit Suisse banker, A.T. Kearney consultant, CFO and entrepreneur. The 5stepCareers skills curriculum is taught with a team based flipped classroom and has a 100% recommendation rate and the first boot-camp in Shanghai sold out in 48 hours.

Brian O’Dwyer is also an Adjunct Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Asia in Singapore where he teaches three courses with a team based teaching method that utilizes a flipped classroom: Aeronautical Science for Management, Airport Administration and Finance and Airline Management. He has also appeared as an Aviation Analyst on Channel NewsAsia on 18 occasions. Brian has been an invited speaker and panellist on the topic of blended learning: Flipped MOOC Asia 2015, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Teaching and Learning Effectiveness Symposium (only finalist from outside the United States) and EduTECH 2016 (Asia’s largest education technology conference).

Financial experience

Brian is an experienced corporate finance professional having completed 50 corporate finance transactions with a total deal value of US$15 billion. Previously, Brian was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Skywest Airlines Limited which was listed on the London Stock Exchange AIM and the Australian Stock Exchange until the sale to Virgin Australia in 2013. Prior to joining Skywest, Brian was an investment banker at Credit Suisse in Singapore, Chicago and New York where he specialized in corporate finance and completed numerous debt, equity and M&A transactions. He also oversaw the recruiting for Credit Suisse’s investment banking team in Singapore.

Consulting experience

Brian completed 22 strategy and operations management consulting assignments during six years with A.T. Kearney in Chicago as an Analyst, Associate and Manager. He also oversaw the recruiting for A.T. Kearney’s Strategy Practice in Chicago.

Brian is based in Singapore and holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA in Finance from Duke University. Brian is the President of the Duke University Alumni Club. Brian is a private, commercial, instrument, multi-engine and seaplane pilot. Brian has completed 17 marathons or triathlons and is a golfer. Brian is married with four children.
