About this Course

The world is changing at a rapid rate with technological developments and this has created an industry and job landscape we will be unlikely to recognize in a few years. Computer Science and Programming is the new general course taken by graduates who are unsure of what they want to pursue in the future, a shift from the previous Business and Economic Degrees. Automation is set to cause even further disruption, already having taken up to millions of blue-collar jobs worldwide. Everybody is aware of the phenomenon, yet there is a severe lack of information for students studying different fields.
This 5-day intensive workshop focuses on bringing up a student from zero knowledge in this industry to be ready for the robotics and automation field.
Therefore no coding knowledge or technical skills required to attend this course.
You will also have a greater knowledge when pursuing your own start-up/entrepreneurial journey regarding hardware requirements when negotiating with engineers.
We have coupled a new innovative syllabus blending the best of both worlds, hands-on practices, and even a last day visit to RACE at PBA, a local precision engineering company. Working hand in hand with the industry, the practices, and advice for career prospects will be cutting edge.

About Instructors:
Mr. Barnabas Chiang
Barnabas is a veteran in Business Development with more than 20 years of experience, specialized in warehousing storage systems. His roles revolve mainly at start-ups, which encompasses strategic planning and implementation; development of sales, operations and support teams; spearhead marketing initiatives, last and not least, direct customers’ engagement. Barnabas’ career started with an MNC storage systems manufacturer as a Sales Engineer and transited to a regional role managing distribution channels and was later assigned to start-up & manage a subsidiary in Asia. His last appointment was with a Robotic storage system manufacturer, tasked to develop channel partnerships in Asia Pacific. Barnabas is also a certified ACTA Trainer.
Ms. Lavanya Karthikeyan
Lavanya builds an ecosystem for Robotics & Automation (R&A) by interfacing between Business Development and Legal functions in PBA Group. Her role involves enabling strategic partnerships, positioning PBA’s platforms to cater to evolving automation needs, and empowering companies and their people to leverage on industry 4.0 technology. In her previous capacity managing the Industrial Automation & Robotics portfolio in Enterprise Singapore, an economic agency under the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Lavanya served in crafting and executing the National Robotics Programme since its inception in 2015, and the Industry Transformation Map for Precision Engineering. Lavanya holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Singapore and is passionate about futureproofing the workforce for deep technology roles. She runs RACE Academy, an independent not-for-profit experiential training academy that birthed from PBA in 2016 to cater to the region’s need for deep technology talents. Lavanya also manages Teddy Lloyd, an independent career advisory function specializing in matching robotics and automation talents to progressive companies. She is currently focused on scaling RACE’s impact across the region and to a wider community of people who risk being displaced by technology.
