Introduction to Sensory Play for Learning (not about pop-it)

About this event

Have you heard about Sensory Play but are not sure what it is?

Do you always want to try Sensory Play but do not know how?

This workshop is for you! You do not need to spend a lot to start sensory play. In fact, you can find the materials readily at home!

In this workshop, you will learn about

1. How to start introducing sensory play at home.

2. Strategies to make it (minus the anxiety for picking up the mess).

3. How to use it to develop core developmental areas for preschoolers (i.e. motor skills, literacy, numeracy, creative expression, social and emotional development, the discovery of the world) - based on MOE's Nurture Early Learner's framework.

About the trainer

Cherry is the founder of Little Changemakers, who believe in equipping children, regardless of age, background or ability, to be changemakers who can create a positive impact in their communities. Our mission is to support children in finding their aspirations through inclusive education, equitable access to new knowledge and skills, and building self-worth and purpose.

She has been an educator for 15 years. She has taught preschoolers, youth and adult learners. She is also very active in designing for people with special needs in various design challenges.

What is Sensory Play?

Sensory play contains multisensory materials that encourage children to learn through play using their senses such as touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing, as well as body movement and balance. Research shows that sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem-solving skills, regulation of emotions, and social interaction.
