Tour Synopsis
This guided trail goes beyond traditional learning, offering an experiential journey through various historical sites significant to the Japanese Occupation. Participants will take on the role of a wartime survivor, solving missions, decoding secret messages, and navigating to a hidden safe house. Along the way, they’ll need to stay alert—saboteurs may be among their group.
Through this interactive format, participants will explore deeper themes of freedom, unity, and the human will to survive. The trail aims to provide a meaningful reflection on the cost of conflict and the importance of peace.
Key Themes
1) Understanding Wartime Hardships
Learn about the realities of life during the Japanese Occupation, including severe food shortages and the economic challenges of banana currency under the Japanese Military Administration.
2) Hands-On Immersion
Engage in activities such as decoding wartime messages and solving propaganda puzzles—designed to simulate the challenges faced by civilians at the time.
3) Lessons from the Past
Reflect on the long-term impact of the Occupation on Singapore’s history and society and uncover how these experiences continue to shape our values today.
