"GRAMMY® Award-winning clarinetist John Bruce Yeh was appointed solo bass clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra by Sir Georg Solti at the age of 19, and is the longest-serving clarinetist in the CSO’s history. Enjoying an international career as a soloist and a recording artist, he has released more than a dozen recordings that have earned worldwide critical acclaim.
Making his debut with the Singapore Wind Symphony, Yeh performs C.M. von Weber’s “Concertino” and Michael Daugherty’s “Brooklyn Bridge” – a true virtuosic composition for solo clarinet inspired by the stunning views of New York seen from the famous landmark. In addition, he will give the world premiere performances of Daniel Yiau’s “Suite Yokai” for clarinet choir as conductor and as soloist in Benjamin Yeo’s “Chop Suey”, a witty and highly entertaining scherzo specially commissioned by the SWS for John Bruce Yeh.
The program will also include Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto, a dazzling tour de force for percussion soloist featuring renowned local percussionist Iskandar Rashid."
