Discovering the stories we tell ourselves through the process of journaling

About this event

About the Programme/Event

Our words wield the power to hurt or to heal. In Elif Shafak’s How to Stay Sane in an Age of Division, she writes that in this increasingly loud and divisive world, it is important to own our voice and articulate our stories in order to preserve our sense of self.

Referencing parts of her book, this workshop by Nicole K., founder of non-profit online mental healthcare magazine The Tapestry Project SG, will focus on discovering the stories we tell ourselves through the process of expressive writing, specifically journaling. Participants will learn tips and techniques that serve to create room for personal agency, catharsis, as well as for growth, emotional literacy, and resilience during these turbulent times.

About the Speaker

Nicole K. is the founder of non-profit online mental healthcare magazine The Tapestry Project SG. She also heads the re:story programme which is a four-week workshop series that combines expressive writing with the principles of narrative therapy. Nicole is a WDA-certified trainer who possesses a graduate diploma in Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Creative Writing.
