Kampung Glam - Sultan's Legacy: A Journey of Faith and Identity

Long before Kampong Glam became the colourful district we know today, a royal village grew around the home of Sultan Hussein. Traders sailed in with spices and silk, pilgrims paused here on their sacred journeys, and families built mosques, schools, and shops that reflected their faith and identity. Walking these streets today, you can still feel the pulse of that early community.

On Sultan’s Legacy: A Journey of Faith and Identity, you’ll see the historic grounds where the Sultan once lived, learning how treaties, alliances and migration shaped the neighbourhood. From the golden domes of Sultan Mosque to Bussorah Street’s pilgrims’ past, and from Arab Street’s textile heritage to the reinvented alleys of Haji Lane and beyond, Kampong Glam reveals how culture, faith, and identity flow through time.

Please take note of the following:

1. The meeting place is outside Lavendar MRT Exit B
2. This tour is scheduled for 120-150 minutes depending on the group size and walking pace.
3. Entry into ticketed attractions will incur additional ticket charges.
4. Wear comfortable shoes for extended walking and standing.
5. Choose attire that keeps you cool and comfortable for walking.
6. Visiting a mosque will require your shoulders and knees be covered.
7. Have your water bottles with you to stay hydrated.
8. Bring an umbrella as this is a rain or shine event.
