“Back to Tacit,” marks a critical shift in KM, moving beyond data-driven systems to the human-centric knowledge that is tacit knowledge.
The theme of KM Singapore 2024, “Back to Tacit,” marks a critical shift in Knowledge Management (KM), moving beyond data-driven systems to the human-centric knowledge that drives true innovation, that is tacit knowledge. Tacit knowledge, which encompasses personal experience, intuition, and insights that cannot easily be captured or codified, remains the hidden force behind organisational success. In an era where explicit knowledge is easily documented and shared, it is this unspoken, deeply embedded knowledge that creates competitive advantage.
This event will explore how tacit knowledge can be harnessed, captured, and used to foster a more collaborative, innovative, and sustainable organisational culture. Throughout the sessions, KM professionals will discover the symbiotic relationship between technology and tacit knowledge where tools such as Monday.com optimise work management processes but do not replace the human insights that fuel decision-making. We will also look at how AI in education amplifies human intelligence, not by overshadowing it, but by supporting knowledge dissemination and creation, particularly in environments where experiential learning is key.
The KM Culture in Singapore will also be a focal point, highlighting how organisations can cultivate environments that nurture both explicit and tacit knowledge. Real-world challenges will be addressed in the HacKMthon, where participants collaborate to solve KM problems, integrating both human experience and technological tools to craft solutions.
The event will also delve into AI’s role in sustaining KM practices, showing how AI can manage hidden knowledge while respecting the cultural elements essential to effective KM.
The panel discussion on tacit knowledge will serve as a deep dive into how unspoken knowledge has driven success in diverse industries. In the closing session on DEI and KM, we will explore how inclusive and equitable KM strategies ensure that all voices, and their unique tacit knowledge, are heard and valued.
In essence, "Back to Tacit" underscores the idea that while technology is an essential tool, the true power of KM lies in its ability to elevate and integrate the human elements—stories, experiences, and tacit knowledge—that drive organisational growth and innovation. It reminds us that knowledge management systems and AI are only as effective as the human insights they support and enhance.
