Hi parents, I am a mom of a 2 year old toddler and I have been hosting open-ended play sessions for a growing community of parents of babies and toddlers who meet regularly to play together. Check out @tinyplayclub on Instagram, where I share reels and snippets of our community events and play sessions and play ideas that the kids loved.I am so excited to share that Tiny Play Club is collaborating with Jackie Li, one of the mums in our community who is also a pediatric speech language therapist and founder of Two Way Street Speech Therapy and Parenting Services to host a language-rich playgroup for babies, toddlers and preschoolers at my home.Reel of the previous playgroup: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cfp_eVtJ3f2/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=Our upcoming playgroup on 1 Sept will focus on feelings and emotions and parents will learn:<ul><li>Why it is important to acknowledge and allow all feelings throughout childhood and how to do so</li><li>Songs that encourage emotional expression</li><li>How to read books about feelings in a language-rich way</li></ul>Our upcoming playgroup on 22 Sept will focus on books for toddlers (18 mo and up) and parents will learn:<ul><li>What books are suitable for toddlers</li><li>How to increase engagement and participation when reading with a toddler at the stage of developing language</li><li>How to read a book in the most language-rich way</li><li>How to provide “just right modelling” when reading a book with your toddler</li></ul>Also, bring 1 or 2 of your own books and we will also share personalised tips on how to optimize reading and set up book-themed play invitations at home with the books that you already have!We will be hosting regular language-rich playgroups on weekday afternoons for a maximum of 6 kids to keep it cosy.Event detailsWhere: 1 King Albert Park, Singapore 598326Next playgroup dates: How long: 1.5 hoursWhat's on?Each language-rich playgroup hosted with Jackie will have a speech language therapy spin on it and includes:<ul><li>Sharing about the focus of the week</li><li>Language-rich song circle</li><li>Sharing of language stimulation strategies suitable for each attending child's age range</li><li>Demonstration of language stimulation strategies through play</li><li>Potluck snack time*</li><li>Q&A</li><li>Book and music recommendations that encourage speech and language development</li><li>Free play and hang out</li></ul>Cost: $25 per child with accompanying adults, which is a token contribution charge to cover the cost of Jackie's expertise, transport, materials and the time taken to set up, clean up and disinfect play surfaces after the session. For reference, a weekday private speech therapy session costs $160 per child.Parents are welcome to attend without a child if you would like to learn from Jackie's sharing. If you would like to come alone, it will cost $15 without the playgroup and clean up.How to make payment?I am using Eventbrite as a platform to automate event bookings so the event is free to book to avoid incurring booking fees. Please PayNow $25 to 87266246 after booking and WhatsApp me the payment screenshot so I can keep track of who is coming.Is there a minimum age to join?No. This is a fun, knowledge-sharing playgroup where Jackie will answer your queries about your child's speech and language development and share language stimulation strategies suitable for each attending child's age range. Age-appropriate books and play invitations will be prepared for all the children coming at each playgroup. The playgroup is not a therapy session.Adult-accompanied eventThis is an adult-accompanied community event for both children and caregivers to socialise - strictly no drop-offs!Cancellation policyJackie earns a fixed amount per language-rich playgroup that she hosts because she has spent time and effort to come all the way down to share her knowledge and expertise to the community.As this cost is split among families who have booked to attend, tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to another child. Alternatively, families are welcome to attend a future language-rich playgroup without extra cost as a one-off make-up (subject to space capacity limits, please reach out to me privately to discuss).About the hostJackie is the founder of Two Way Street Speech Therapy and Parenting Services. She has 11 years of experience working as a paediatric speech language therapist ​in clinical and classroom settings. Jackie believes that children learn best in a fun and meaningful setting. She adopts a functional approach in her therapy so that the speech and language skills mastered can be easily generalized to the child’s everyday life. In her free time, she enjoys learning and reflecting upon the teachings of RIE, Pikler, Montessori, and Waldorf.She has experience in working with children ages 0 to 7 of varying learning needs, including autism spectrum disorder, global development delays, speech sound disorders, oral-motor weakness, apraxia, language disorders, picky eaters, swallowing disorders, as well as children who require alternative modes of communication.As an advocate of respectful discipline, she strives to influence parents and educators to treat children with love and respect. To join the community, please WhatsApp me at 87266246 to introduce yourself and your child(ren). There are no membership fees to join the community. As this is an in-person community, I want to make sure that I personally know every attending family to keep the community safe.<ul><li>Please WhatsApp me at 87266246 before booking tickets if you have not attended the play sessions before, or tickets will be automatically cancelled.</li><li>These play sessions are adult accompanied. Parents, grandparents and/or helpers are welcome.</li><li>A maximum of 2 adult caregivers per family so as not to crowd the play space</li><li>*Please bring healthy food items such as fresh or cooked food for the kids to share during snack time. The food will be placed on a low table for the kids to serve themselves.
