About this event

Arts • Dance

Blues dance is a family of Black American social dances that were born from the unfortunate history of slavery in the U.S.

It values improvisation, authenticity, rhythms, individual expression, and community.

This is a 2-hour dance class to get you started in Blues partered dancing.
It is for you,
If you are already a dancer and wanna give this genre try;
or has no dance experience and wanna explore your own movement.

We are exploring
⛰️Finding power from the ground
♥️Feeling the pulse - heartbeat of the dance
👫Connecting in different partnership holds
🫂Introduce close embrace (a sustained hug kind of hold)
📖Why close embrace is culturally important - a mini history talk
🌸How to ease into close embrace while giving each other space to exit freely
🌶️Adding a liiiiiiittle bit of your own spice in the dance
