Tour Synopsis

A unique blend of heritage and modern living, Tiong Bahru is home to some of Singapore’s most iconic architectural and cultural landmarks. On this trail, participants will journey through its storied streets, discovering Art Deco-style buildings, hidden gems, and stories from the past that continue to shape the estate’s identity today.

Key highlights include a visit to Seng Poh Garden, where the elegant Dancing Girl Sculpture stands, and the Tiong Bahru Market, a beloved hub of local food and community life. Participants will also explore Singapore’s last pre-war civilian air raid shelter, nestled beneath one of the conserved blocks.

Admire the estate’s distinctive Art Deco design and learn about its role in shaping Singapore’s early public housing landscape.

View Yip Yew Chong’s nostalgic murals, capturing everyday scenes from old Singapore, and discover the Old Bird Corner, a tribute to the neighborhood’s once-thriving bird-singing tradition.

Appreciate how heritage and modernity co-exist in Tiong Bahru, offering valuable insights into the evolution of community living in Singapore.

  • Participants for this programme need to be 7 years old and above. Children below 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
  • You are required to follow the instructions of your tour guide or facilitator and stay with the group at all times unless otherwise instructed.
  • Dress code - Comfortable attire and shoes suitable for walking and exercise.
  • All participants are required to present their ticket at the meeting point during registration.
  • All tickets are strictly non-transferable; please ensure you register each ticket with a unique name and contact details.
  • This tour is not recommended for individuals requiring walking assistance (e.g. wheelchair users).
