Learning Space Design Through AI (Full Day Workshop)This workshop is open to children aged 9-16 years old. Can children design spaces in the real world? In this workshop children will get the chance to experience a design workshop where your child will go through the process of designing around a real, physical space and learn how to use generative AI to communicate their ideas. Get to experience an actual case study on-site where they can apply what they have learnt. This will be conducted at and based on the context of Vivistop Kampong Eunos, a children and youth makerspace equipped with a wide array of contemporary tools, materials and machinery to encourage exploration and experimentation. Suitable ideas may even have the chance to be implemented in a makerspace. Programme Breakdown: Morning<ul><li>Tour of the space to familiarise with the physical setting</li><li>Setting the context and design briefs for the various sites around Vivistop</li><li>Roleplaying as different stakeholders. e.g. playing the role of a cafe owner and thinking of ideas to elevate the pantry to a playful dining experience</li><li>Observational studies: taking photos, videos, observation notes</li><li>Identifying opportunity spaces</li><li>Introduction to the possibilities of AI</li><li>Fun generative ideation techniques using AI (ChatGPT prompts)</li><li>Idea critique session LUNCH *Please provide pocket money for your child's lunch nearby (with adult supervision) or pack their lunch. Thank you! Afternoon</li><li>Physical Prototyping / 3D modelling with Tinkercad</li><li>Final AI image generation</li><li>Pitching Session to share their #nolimits ideas</li><li>Identifying and acknowledging strengths &amp; challenges in implementing their ideas</li><li>Conclusion and reflection In this session, your child will:</li><li>Learn design thinking process and mindsets</li><li>Learn how to harness the possibilities of AI as a powerful idea generation tool</li><li>Develop hands-on prototyping skills</li><li>Learn to collaborate and work in a team</li><li>Develop creative confidence to pursue #nolimit ideas</li><li>Develop the confidence to present publicly</li><li>Learn to critique peers’ ideas through an objective lens and handle constructive criticism This workshop includes:</li><li>Personalised mentorship</li><li>Low participant to facilitator ratio</li><li>All materials included! *Please be aware that a minimum of three sign-ups is required for this program to proceed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Vivita Singapore</li></ul>VIVITA is a global not for profit organisation committed to creating a future where children and youth are confident in their own ideas, and are self-directed in their learning. He loves to work at the intersection between the technical and poetic, and believes that design should imprint meaningful experiences on people. Ian graduated with a Bachelor’s of Art in Industrial Design (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and has designed for iconic local design companies such as Supermama, woodworking studio Roger&amp;Sons, and Spa Esprit Group prior to joining Vivita. At Vivita, Ian enjoys mentoring children through an enriching design process personally suited to each child’s needs, and has conducted multiple Design Thinking programmes for both Vivita members and MOE schools under Design Singapore inititatives. Zhi Ru is a designer and self-proclaimed extroverted introvert who values unexpected interactions with people, even though she finds meeting new people daunting. She believes that fun and functionality can coexist, often incorporating playful elements into her designs. She is continually inspired by the ambition and creativity of children, recognising their potential when given the right environment. “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” While her role is to impart skills and knowledge to children, their enthusiasm and creativity also inspire her. She believes that learning is a lifelong journey, and it's never too late to pick up a new skill or hobby. Zhi Ru graduated with honours in Industrial Design from the National University of Singapore. Beyond design, she enjoys sewing, fiber crafts, photography, aerial yoga, and learning new languages.
