Band Bios:
Paper Divers
Paper Divers is many things, but today it is Jonathan Yip, Jared Yip, Sarah Lim and Diane Teo. Heavily influenced by the sound of Owl City, Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Dan Croll, RADWIMPS, and basically whatever they're listening to at the time, their songs are a confusing collage of sounds set against scenes of quarter-life angst, spiritual wandering, existential dread and sometimes plain surrealism.
Chasing Daylight
Chasing Daylight is an alternative rock band from Singapore whose songs bring a message of courage, hope and freedom.
The band was first conceived when singer Yap Wei Chiang and guitarist Hosea Choo met in a church some ten years ago, bonded over a love for guitars and rock n’ roll and inspired to write songs that could cross the spiritual-secular divide. Notable highlights from a decade of making music together include being selected for the Singapore National Arts Council’s Music Mentorship Programme in 2016, and releasing their eponymous debut EP in September 2017.
The Baobabs
The Baobabs are trees. Bry is tall and Beat is small, the music they play is anything at all. They found friendship at a black parade at around fifteen, sang along to The Dresden Dolls for years and grew into huge succulents that found faith digging through miry bogs. Like the ups and downs of life, The Baobabs sound like a silly dad joke, a broken heart, a hopeful dreamer, or a messy kitchen for a dinner party.
About the venue: Lion Studios
Established in 1980 by PolyGram Records, Lion Studios is one of the few studios in South East Asia that has retained its analogue capabilities while being one of the first studios to embrace digital technology since 1985.
The fully sound-proofed and acoustically treated studio provides a unique and memorable setting for this event.
