Being an engaging speaker has become an essential 21st century skill. Your ability to effectively communicate your message and ideas will not only improve your grades, it will set you apart and give you an edge.

This series of workshops is designed for students who recognise the need to improve the way they communicate in front of other people. They empower and motivate you to be the best speaker you can be. They give you the confidence to communicate well under any condition and help you develop a personal style that is authentic and sustainable.

These hands-on workshops are engaging and interactive. They incorporate age-appropriate examples that appeal to the interests of students. Each session includes live coaching, feedback sessions, discussions, debates and case studies.

All tools and techniques are research based and proven. Students walk away transformed and ready to take on public speaking and presentations with a newfound confidence, enthusiasm and passion.

Level 1 Topics:




1. THREE KEYS TO HIGH IMPACT DELIVERY

Overview:

In this topic, participants will look at the three components that make high impact presentations. Participants will look at how each component fits together and focus on how to implement and adjust each component to fit different contexts and different audiences.

Outcomes:

  • Know what makes high impact delivery that engages an audience

  • Know how to use verbal and non-verbal components to enhance your message

  • Learn how to create and deliver a compelling opening and closing


2. THE POWER OF INFLUENCE AND PERSUASION

Overview:

In this topic, participants will look at connecting rational content with emotional leverage in order to influence and persuade audiences. This will be done by examining the relationship between purpose and engagement.

Outcomes:

  • Recognise the role of emotional connections in developing impactful messages and influence

  • Know how to structure rational content to influence an audience

  • Increase your personal awareness and flexibility of persuasive communication


3. OVERCOMING NERVOUSNESS

Overview:

This topic focuses on strategies, tools and techniques to manage anxiety and nervousness to deliver a presentation confidently and clearly before any constituency and under all conditions.

Outcomes:

  • Build confidence by understanding the physiological reactions that contribute to nervousness

  • Know how to apply preemptive nerve management to speak effectively

  • Learn strategies to be relaxed and natural when speaking


4. FIVE COMPONENTS EFFECTIVE POWERPOINT VISUALS

Overview:

This topic focusses on the five components that ensure PowerPoint visuals are high impact . It incorporates leading-edge research and industry insights into what makes PowerPoint slides effective and memorable.

Outcomes:

  • Be able to make your PowerPoint slides more effective and memorable

  • Know how to deliver powerful PowerPoint messages that are short, simple, strong, and tailored to your audience

  • Increase your flexibility of persuasive communication by using PowerPoint



NOTE:

  • All participants present during the workshop and perform a self-evaluation. Participants receive feedback from the facilitator and peers.

  • Participants identify key areas to develop both individually and as a group.

  • Presentations are video recorded and shared with respective participants.
