LITMUS JAZZ @ The Jazz Loft

In June 2022, the iconic Singapore music venue Blu Jaz reopened its live music program with the Jazz Loft, located on the 3rd floor of it’s premises at Bali Lane.The mission of this new space, is to showcase jazz, and improvisation, as an evolving art form, rather than a museum-piece, presenting those artists, both local and international, that are part of the forward motion, and artistic development of the music.

The Litmus Jazz Ensemble was formed by double bassist and band leader Eugene Chew with a vision to feature and foster the creation of new and exciting Singaporean jazz compositions. Borrowing from their musical roots of improvisation and spontaneity on the bandstand, the ensemble takes on each piece with an adventurous spirit every time and draws their audiences along with them. With a combination of unorthodox instrumentation and dynamic chemistry, Jeffrey Tan on Violin, Erwin Tan on Trombone, Joel Chua on Keyboards, Eugene Chew on Bass, and Anson Koh on Drums, the Litmus Jazz Ensemble boasts a unique and modern sound with a musical energy that sets them apart from others.The Band:Anson Koh on drumsEugene Chew on bassJoel Chua on pianoErwin Tan on tromboneJeffrey Tan on violinDoors open at 7.00pmSets at 7.45 and 9.15pmCover charge $22 for both sets
