Went to the same primary school, secondary school AND junior college? Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? Double check.With ovaries that have more holes in them than swiss cheese, insurance companies rejecting them for being “too high risk”, and existential crises about womanhood, Miriam and Shannen are banding together to deal with it the only way they know how: Making theatre about it.But what if the differences they face through this are irreconcilable? What if their cyst-erhood is not as strong as they initially thought? And what does a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T74dGndXzkE" title="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T74dGndXzkE" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Potato Rap</a> have to do with all of this?Candidly discussing the struggles of living with under-researched and misunderstood chronic illness, Lotus Root Support Group affirms the importance of human connections in times of struggle, as rocky and tumultuous as they may be. Because we can’t make it through life alone. This will be an updated and reimagined version of the play from 2021, which was described by City Nomads as "Educational, hilarious, and gut-wrenchingly sincere."This iteration of Lotus Root Support Group was first previewed at Let's Go Just Do Don't Scared Scratch Night in June 2024 and is co-presented with Impromptu Meetings. Supported by the National Arts Council of Singapore. 28 August - 1 September 202442 Waterloo Street Black BoxPlease take note that the venue is not wheelchair accessible, and that patrons will need to climb stairs to reach the black box. The performance is in English with no surtitles. RATING: ADVISORY 16 (SOME MATURE CONTENT AND COARSE LANGUAGE) Contains some sexual references, discussions of mental health and body image, depictions of mysogyny and COVID-19.
