Understand the essentials of Life.  Hear about the legal, medical and emotional aspects relating to the beginning of life, the options that all  mothers have and the impact of abortion.  Experts in the related field present and discuss Life.

Speakers and Panelists

Dr Tan Seow Hon is an associate professor of law in a local university. She has written on local abortion laws in local newspapers and in an international academic journal. She is a winner of multiple teaching awards and has a doctorate from Harvard Law School.


Dr Peter Chew is a specialist physician in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2002, Dr Chew set up aLife, a non-profit social service agency that advises and supports women and their families on issues relating to the unborn child. Since then, aLife has counselled more than 10,000 pregnant women and about 2,000 decided to keep their babies.


Pastor Norman Ng is the Co-founder of the Heartbeat Project, a social movement that engages the church in conversations regarding life and abortion. Through his leadership, the Heartbeat Project has challenged the status quo to shape culture through disruptive storytelling short films, prophetic design and digital strategy, which has reached 50 nations and more than half a million people. He is also the Deputy Senior Pastor at 3:16 Church.


Jennifer Heng is the author of “Walking Out of Secret Shame”, a book about her story of healing and transformation. She is also the Director of Safe Place, an initiative to empower women with unsupported pregnancies to make life-giving choices. In 2015, she was named one of “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World - Singapore” and “Most Inspiring Woman - Great Women of Our Time”.

Jason Wong is, for many, synonymous with the national fathering movement, Dads for Life, and/or Yellow Ribbon Project having founded both movements in 2009 and 2004 respectively.  Formerly a Deputy Director of Singapore Prison Services and CEO of Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE) and then MSF. Throughout the course of his career, he has become convinced of the irreplaceable role of fathers and of family. He is now the Chairman of the Board of Focus on the Family Singapore, and a Director on the board of Centre for Fathering.

Rose Boon has been working and volunteering with Family Life Society for 30 years. She is a pioneer member of Pregnancy Crisis & Support. 

In 2010, she brought the Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat to Singapore.

Rachel's Vineyard Retreats bring spiritual healing and strengthening of faith to individuals who have had or participated in an abortion.

Today is the Chairperson of Counseling and Care Centre, where she has served in various capacities for 10 years, and the coordinator for counselling at Kingsmead Centre.

Vivienne Ng is also Chief Psychologist at the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).  A clinical psychologist by training, she oversees psychological services within MSF and the social service sector, in areas such as disability; parenting and marriage; vulnerable families; gambling etc.  She is a co-founder of Home for Good-SG, a Christian fostering network that seeks to make fostering a core ministry in the churches. and to support government by providing enough foster carers to meet the needs for children in care in Singapore.  She is an approved MSF foster parent.

Family Life Society (FLS) is a registered non-profit charity and a member of the National Council of Social Services (NCSS). It seeks to actively promote family and marriage. The Patron of FLS is the Catholic Archbishop of Singapore. We are an IPC charity so all donations are tax-deductable.

FLS was established as Family Life Bureau in 1983 and, in February 1985 under the Societies Act of Singapore to promote understanding and respect for the family and human life.  FLS offers professional services and support to those in need and from all walks of life, regardless of race, religion and background.
