Event description

Description

Cap the month of love with Singapore love poems amid dreamy artworks at the National Gallery.

Listen to published poets and selected members of the public dialogue with paintings and sculptures at the National Gallery’s Singapore holdings. Love-themed art springs to life with verses on smoldering feelings and lofty ideals at the Poetry Festival (Singapore) [formerly called “National Poetry Festival”]’s “Love @ the National Gallery.”

Featured poems will convey romantic feelings, intimate friendship, filial piety or universal love in all the island’s languages. The event will begin at the Padang Atrium basement (facing the Padang) and will continue at the Singapore Galleries.

Edwin Thumboo, Aaron Lee, Eric Tinsay Valles, Jennifer Champion, Ow Yeong Wai Kit, Tan Chee Lay, Lily Teo, Aqmal, Amanah Binti Mustafi , Ashwini Selvaraj and Harini Chutti will join three selected members of the public as featured poets. Some readings will be accompanied by musician Gladwin Pantastico, NAFA dancers and the award-winning Psalmideo choir. There will be a short discussion of love poetry afterwards.

There will also be a call for love poems from the public. Three notable poems will be selected for the reading session and their creators will each receive S100 cash vouchers . Selected members of the audience will win “love bites” packs.

This event is supported by the National Gallery and the National Book Development Council of Singapore as part of the Buy Sing Lit Campaign.
