MOX is a co-working space and community for creatives. Whether one is a creative-preneur, an established brand or a hobbyist - the variety of workspaces, communal facilities, activities and people in MOX helps creatives to grow, and create amazing work, with opportunities to showcase and turn their skills into livelihood.

Our future belongs to our children ‐ and how they are educated plays a big part in the way they think and grow. How can we use design innovation to make a difference to education? How do can we help our children to learn important skills without making it all about the classroom?
An informal talk by two creative entrepreneurs, sharing their experiences and their perspectives, and culminating in a panel discussion between two.
You are also invited to visit the studios where the creatives work ‐ and interact first‐hand with them and their work.
 
<H2>Creativity for Humanity</H2>

According to the World Economic Forum, the top few skills you need to succeed in the workforce that remain unchanged are complex problem‐solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
But how do we equip young learners with future‐ready skillsets and empower their creative minds to take on complex challenges of the future that they are passionate in solving?
 
This talk will highlight how Design Innovation, a unique blend of design thinking and computational thinking can help anyone harness the aforementioned skillsets and mindsets to face the ever‐changing needs and challenges we face together as a society.
Using examples such as Potato Pirates and Design Odyssey, a signature program co‐developed by Codomo and SUTD‐MIT International Design Centre, we’ll illustrate the impact of using innovation, design, and technology on social problems faced by various communities.
 
About Aditya An avid life‐long learner, Aditya’s myriad of personal interests include biohacking, spirituality, consciousness engineering and creative intelligence ‐ incorporating elements of his persona into Codomo's company ethos. Prior to founding Codomo, Aditya was developing software solutions and handling I.T. administration in the shipping and logistics industry. Aditya is now an Apple Certified trainer and an Adjunct Fellow for Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
Codomo is an education technology company which designs transformative experiences and products that catalyse 21st‐century learning. Codomo develops and delivers programs, platforms and products rooted in Design Innovation ‐ an amalgamation of design thinking, computational thinking, and maker culture.
Codomo works with learners across all ages to inculcate a problem‐solving mindset and a love for life‐long learning while keeping them at the forefront of the ever‐changing technological landscape. Under Aditya's leadership, Codomo’s first product; Potato Pirates has gone on to be the most backed project from Singapore on Kickstarter ‐ raising over a quarter million dollars with over 5,000 backers.
 
<H2>Using Design for Learning in 2019 </H2>

The 21st century classroom bears a lot of similarities to classroom settings predating the 1860s. Students sit, either in individual desks or clusters, and are instructed on subject material by a teacher. The teacher assigns readings and exercises for students to practice their knowledge, then are assessed based upon their performance. By many accounts, the system works pretty well. But what if learning isn’t working well enough?
This talk will serve as a synopsis of some efforts that designers, teachers, and other interested parties are pursuing to update learning for the 21st century. From re‐envisioning spaces to accommodate for the needs of individual learners to tackling fundamental issues about how we learn, there are ample opportunities to apply the tenets of design to a field like education.
 
About Brent and Tinkermind Brent Wettlaufer is the Curriculum Development lead at Tinkermind. He has over 8 years experience in maker curriculum design, including teacher training, for schools and maker spaces in North America. His education background is in Physics, which he has used a grand total of zero times in his professional career. His desk features electronics prototyping equipment, a 3D printer, and several unfinished projects that he'll surely get to at some point.
Tinkermind is a company that is tackling the problem of redesigning learning. Through the usage of current pedagogical practices and emerging technologies, we seek to bridge the current gaps in education and technology to enable learners to solve the problems of tomorrow. We also help people make their ideas become real, and offer design and prototyping services using our 3D printers.
