Masterclass with Masterpotter Chua Soo Kim: Throwing
On-Site & On Zoom
Chua Soo Kim began pottery as a craftsman researching glazes in his family pottery Sam Mui Kwang, which ran the famed Jalan Hwi Yoh dragon kiln. He later trained under Singapore pioneer sculptor Ng Eng Teng at Studio 106. Going on to teach ceramics at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and then at the National Institute of Education, Chua also taught at the National University of Singapore’s Centre for the Arts. His lifetime of refining his work has yielded many irreplaceable vessels with gorgeous glazes and also skills passed on to many others who studied under him.
This Throwing Masterclass will provide valuable insights for clay practitioners. Come prepared with a listening ear and questions for the Masterpotter!
