Holiday micro:bit Coding Workshop for Kids

Give your child a head start in STEAM education by enrolling them in our coding workshop. This workshop aims to teach students analytical and logical thinking skills through designing codes for animations and games. Analytical and logical thinking skills definitely complement the learning of Mathematics where these skills are essential.

Workshop Outline

Students will first be introduced to the drag-and-drop programming interface use to code the micro: bit. The second part of the workshop will focus on hands-on implementation of micro: bit projects. Students will have a chance to learn more about micro: bit, breadboard, LEDs, sound buzzer and other hardware components as we integrate these into the project. Students will embark on projects like “Make Your Own Keyboard”, “Stead Hands”, “Secret Code” and more.

About micro:bit

micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer designed by the BBC in the UK. It is used by schools in the UK to teach computer education initially. Many schools world-wide started adopting using micro:bit to teach computing as part of the push towards STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) education. micro:bit is a versatile tool to introduce students to the world of coding as it can be used as a standalone with the many features onboard, such as LEDs, compass, accelerometer, bluetooth and more. Hardware components, such as breadboard, sound buzzers or even motors, can be integrated with micro:bit to make interesting projects to teach students the basics of both the hardware and software.
