Micromanage Overwork Exasperate

Formerly known as The Common Folk, we are a collective of artists who seek the uncommon in common stories, and the magic in the mundane. We aim to engage people from all walks of life with honest and impactful storytelling.

Dark Matter Theatrics

Everybody’s an expert on education. Everybody’s started a sentence with, “Last time when I was in school…” at least once. And everybody – come on, admit it – everybody’s had moments where they felt someone else hadn’t been taught properly in school. 
What would it be like, then, to step into the shoes of an educator? How do the people, whose job it is to teach our children, manage to uphold the standards that are set upon them – by society and by themselves? We are experts on our own education – should we also consider ourselves experts on educators?
Using material gleaned from interviews with a wide range of teachers – primary to secondary, in-service to retired, elite independent schools to neighbourhood institutions – Micromanage Overwork Exasperate seeks to explore the unspoken sides of education, and give voice to the true experiences, struggles and successes of some of our nation’s most invisible heroes – our teachers. 
Everybody’s indebted to a teacher, in one way or another. If you’ve ever met a teacher you loved – or remember one you hated – then this play is for you.
Micromanage Overwork Exasperate is a reworking of another play, Micromanage Overwork Exaggerate, staged by The Common Folk in 2014. (Yes, we changed a word.)

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is no parking available at Centre 42. You might consider parking at Manulife Centre, or in the limited parking spaces along Waterloo St. 
For public transport: Buses: 131, 131A, 147, 147A, 166 Bus Stop Number: 04189 Bras Basah Road – Manulife Center
By MRT: Bras Basah MRT Station (Circle Line), Exit E 
What can/can't I bring to the event?
We recommend dressing comfortably as there may be segments of the show that require you to stand, or sit on the floor. If your health or physique makes this uncomfortable or impossible, do let us know so that we can arrange alternative seating for you. 
As for what to bring, luggage is probably not a good idea. Neither are kitchen appliances. We don't mind if you bring wine, though, as long as we get to share some of it.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
We accept both printed tickets as well as soft copies - just show the PDF on your smartphone to our ushers at the door.
