About this event

Mindfulness Based Therapy for Insomnia (MBTI) Program was developed at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine from a variety of resources and teachings in sleep medicine and psychological science. The mindfulness practices are based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) and the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression Program (MBCT). It consists of eight classes and a one full day retreat.

What are the expected outcomes?

  • Improve your sleep quality through reduced stress, sleeplessness, and other insomnia symptoms
  • Cultivation of greater self-awareness to bring about changes in unhealthy thoughts and behaviours surrounding sleep

Who is it for?

MBTI is designed to help individuals increase awareness of the territory of insomnia and to develop adaptive ways of working with reducing unwanted wakefulness at night. It includes specific behavioural recommendations that are designed to promote sleep regulation. Through the principles of mindfulness, attendees will learn to effectively manage the emotional reactions that commonly arise during the course of chronic insomnia.
