DESCRIPTION

Mindfulness practices are becoming more relevant in Singapore with the increasing challenges we face in both our personal and professional lives. Mindfulness has a tremendous effect in promoting wellbeing and reducing stress, anxiety and other life challenges. Modern research has found that by practicing Mindfulness one can move away from negative thoughts about the past and the future, and remain positive in the present moment. Mindfulness practitioners have also found themselves dealing with physical illnesses and challenges much better than they used to.

Your Coaches:

1) Kathirasan K

Director, Mindfulness Teacher, Coach, Speaker, Author

Kathirasan (Kathir) has been teaching contemplative and mindfulness practices since 2008. He is at present a Doctoral Researcher, researching on Yoga Philosophy and Meditation. He has practised mindfulness for more than 20 years, since 1999 and has been trained by the eminent Mindfulness teacher, Shamash Alidina and trained in Yoga by the world renowned SVYASA. He has the ability to contextualise Mindfulness within any culture and in the areas of education, leadership, teaching, learning, personal development, coaching, counselling, career development and stress management. Being an OD Consultant, Kathir sees the relevance of Mindfulness in Organisational and Workplace settings. He is the author of two books: ‘Mindfulness in 8 Days: How to find inner peace in a world of stress and anxiety’ published by Marshall Cavendish (2017) and “Mindfulness Based Leadership: The Art of Being a Leader - Not Becoming One” (to be published by the end of 2018).

He is familiar with various Mindfulness applications such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness for Stress Management (MBSR), Mindful Leadership, Mindfulness at Workplace, Mindful Coaching, Mindful Teaching, Mindful Education, Mindful Counselling, Mindful Relationships, Mindful Parenting and Generic Mindfulness practices. Kathir has also spoken at various conferences on mindfulness.

Apart from learning Mindfulness in traditional settings, he has also successfully completed 100 hours of Mindfulness Teacher Training. He is currently a Doctoral Candidate researching in the subject of Yoga Philosophy and Meditation. He is also a certified Yoga Instructor and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) amongst his many qualifications.

2) Dr. Sunita Rai

Mindfulness Psychologist & Coach

Sunita has been practicing mindfulness since 2009. She is a trained Mindfulness facilitator and coach. She uses her unique ability to incorporate psychology and mindfulness into an integrated practice when conducting workshops and in her psychotherapy services. She co-develops curriculums at the Centre for Mindfulness using approaches from mindfulness, psychology and wellbeing perspectives. She conducts workshops in mindfulness for the general public, in schools for students and teachers and also in organisations for staff development. She also coaches individuals in mindfulness to help individuals lead fulfilling lives. In her doctorate research on wellbeing, she had utilised mindfulness as a part of a unique wellbeing model which she developed. She relies on research evidence and her own experience in teaching mindfulness rather than following fad. She is familiar with various Mindfulness applications such as Generic Mindfulness Practices, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness for Stress Management (MBSR), Mindfulness at Workplace, Mindfulness for Psychotherapists and Counsellors, Mindful Parenting, Mindful Couple Relationships, Mindful Coaching, Mindful Teaching, and Mindfulness and Wellbeing.

Sunita has over 22 years of experience in local and regional marketing; corporate training and staff development; psychotherapy and counselling; education; mindfulness; and wellbeing amongst others. She is a skilled facilitator, coach, psychotherapists and lecturer. She has a Doctor of Psychology, Master of Social Science (Counselling), Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Business in Business Administration with Merit (Marketing Major) amongst her many qualifications. She can converse in English, Mandarin and Hindi.
