This 4-session course will teach you how secular mindfulness can reduce stress, improve your health and enhance your wellbeing

About this event

In this 4-session course, you will learn to train the mind to purposefully pay attention to the present moment, without judging the experience. You will be introduced to the connection between the mind and the body, explore the habits of the mind, investigate stress triggers and one’s reactivity, understand anxiety and its impact. You will also learn how to cultivate kindness towards yourself and others.

What is Mindfulness?

“Mindfulness is a conscious effort to be completely present – to set aside worry, expectations and other thoughts and emotions to be fully aware of the current moment. Participants will learn how to train the mind to purposefully pay attention to the present moment, without judging the experience. You will be introduced to the connection between the mind and the body, explore the habits of the mind, investigate stress triggers and one’s reactivity, understand anxiety and its impact. You will also learn how to cultivate kindness towards yourself and others.

Who is this for?

People who have little or no knowledge of mindfulness and wish to learn how to apply it in their daily lives. Suitable for adults and teenagers 16 and above.

Date: Jan 4, 11, 18 and 25 | Tuesdays.

Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Course fee:

$160 | $32 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy*

*NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above.

1. In addition to NSA subsidy, course fee may be offset by SkillsFuture Credit (SFC).

2. First, course participants are to make payment for the course through Brahm Centre Eventbrite page.

3. They should claim with SFC before the course start date through the SkillsFuture portal. Click for steps to submit SFC claim.

4. Brahm Centre will reimburse the amount that is successfully claimed upon receipt of the funds from SFC.

Notes:

  • Please note that payments for courses are non-refundable.
  • Do ensure that you are able to attend the first session of the course before registering for the course as you will not be allowed to continue with the course should you miss the first session.
  • Request for transfers or make up-classes for selected mindfulness courses are subjected to availability and fees of $30 for transfers and $10 for make-up are applicable.

Research Opportunity

All participants in the MFC course are invited to take part in a collaborative research study between Brahm Centre and Duke-NUS Medical School. We will send you an email within a week with more details of this study, which is questionnaire-based. It will take about 1 hour in your own time and you will be compensated $15 within 3 months of your course ending.

About Our Trainer

Lily Gan has been practicing mindfulness since 2015 and is a certified Mindfulness Trainer through Brahm Centre. She has been teaching the Mindfulness Foundation Course in both English and Chinese languages since 2018 and is currently undergoing Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Teacher Training through the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, UK. Lily is also a senior counsellor at Brahm Centre, having graduated with a Masters of Social Science (Counselling & Psychotherapy) from Edith Cowen University, Australia in 2011. She applies mindfulness as an essential modality in her counselling sessions. Before joining Brahm Centre as a Counsellor, she provided pro-bono counselling services in the local community such as THK Family Service Centre and Brahm Centre.

Brahm Centre is a leading course provider of a wide range of science-based mindfulness programs to reduce stress and enhance well-being in today's fast paced world. We have worked with healthcare agencies, schools and corporations to equip employees, parents and students with mindfulness tools to help them stay physically and mentally well. 

 

Course graduates may enhance their practice by joining our weekly mindfulness clubs. Furthermore there are free regular health talks conducted by healthcare professionals and qualified speakers open to the public.

Please note that all course registrations are NON-refundable. Transfer of selected mindfulness courses is subject to a $30 transfer fee and a $10 admin fee for a mindfulness make-up class. There are NO transfers or make-up classes available for all other courses.
