In learning music, many of us are familiar with only the traditional method of sight-reading to a precise score. Did you know we can also learn to play by ear? This talk presents a balanced discussion on the applications, benefits and shortcomings / limitations of each method. There will be live demonstrations of concepts shared.

About the Speaker

Goh Zensen has a Master's in Music Education and was a Vice Principal in the Ministry of Education (MOE) , Singapore,  where he had a career spanning 28 years before leaving to pursue his passion in music education.  

A pioneer in Xinyao, his band won the championship in the 1988 National Xinyao Competition. Besides having been a music educator with MOE, Zensen is a practitioner and trainer in playing music by ear, a composer, arranger, live accompanist, and music consultant. He also judges in music competitions; coaches choirs and delivers talks on a wide range of topics on music.
