What to Expect
Recovering from addiction can be a long and lonely journey – whether one is addicted to substances like alcohol or drugs, or behaviours like gambling, pornography, or even gaming. This chronic and relapsing mental health disorder can feel like an insurmountable mountain to tackle – which is why WE CARE works to provide those undergoing their rehab journey with not only interventions in the form of counselling and therapy, but also seeks to provide a safe and supportive haven for all to drop-in and work on their recovery journey.
Walk through the reception of WE CARE and meet Recovery Guides who draw on their personal experiences to connect with and journey alongside individuals in the process of recovery, before taking a look at the therapy rooms where trained counsellors sit down with individuals to identify issues that contribute to their addictions and develop strategies to manage these problems.
Participants can also look forward to a visit to WE CARE’s Drop-In Centre: a safe, non-judgemental space where those who are recovering can visit to distance themselves from triggers at home or other environments, and actively work on their recovery through workshops and training sessions with the aim of re-entering the workforce and building a better relationship with their families at home. You’ll also sit down and speak with someone who is going through their addiction recovery journey, and hear how their lives have changed since setting off on their recovery journey with WE CARE.
About Birth & Rebirths
What does it mean to be reborn? For some, it is a spiritual awakening—being baptised, embracing a new faith, or finding solace in age-old rituals that mark a transition into a different way of living. For others, rebirth comes in the form of reinvention—leaving behind a troubled past, overcoming illness, or finding purpose after loss. From ex-residents who have rebuilt their lives, to individuals who have found strength in faith, community, or personal conviction, their stories remind us that transformation is always possible.
Through facilitated dialogues with the social workers, and people on the fringes of our society we hope to provide opportunities for participants to engage in candid and heartfelt conversations.
About the Organisation
WE CARE Community Services Limited is the first non-denominational outpatient addiction treatment centre in Singapore. We offer counselling and programmes for all forms of addictions including drug, alcohol, gambling, sex, eating disorder, internet and shop-lifting.
We also run a community-based drop-in centre for the recovering individuals to connect with other recovering persons. Within this safe and non-judgemental environment, our clients are able to work on their recovery.
Our Centre is staffed with professional counsellors who provide one-to-one and family counselling. We also facilitate addiction-related programmes to community agencies and various halfway houses. We also conduct awareness talks, community education and prevention outreach to the public and corporate agencies. WE CARE runs family workshops and education on how best to support the affected love ones.
About the Host
