About this event
Many of us grew up with fond memories of visiting amusement parks, as they played an important role in shaping both the social lives of the local community and popular culture of Singapore in the pre- and post-war decades. While Singapore was home to several amusement parks from the 1920s till today, three of them enjoyed far greater success and longevity than the others. The trio – New World, Great World and Happy World (renamed Gay World in 1964) − no longer exists, but many would still remember the delightful experiences they had at these amusement parks.
Relive fond memories and learn interesting fun facts about amusement parks in Singapore. You can also enjoy some of the classic amusement park games and rides, provided by local carnival veteran Uncle Ringo, at the National Museum’s re-created amusement park. Don’t forget to complete the quest activity through our Life in Singapore galleries to redeem a limited complimentary carnival game ticket!
