OFF THE RECORD with OFFCUT FACTORY
Event Information
About this event
OFF THE RECORD with OFFCUT FACTORY will be an informal sharing and tour of ongoing exhibitions by Offcut Factory. Join the co-founders and one of their factory collaborators as they share the journey so far and how you are involved in their effort.
Be prepared to be thrown into the deep end of realising how much waste is generated on a daily basis and the difference you can make.
-
Offcut Factory is an initiative that reframes material waste by design. We aim to foster a spirit of sustainability by envisioning a framework and community where factories and businesses can find alternative solutions to material waste management.
We see sustainability as a way of living, a habit. Current methods of discarding waste equates to time saved by businesses but these methods can be re-evaluated to adopt the Offcut Factory framework to extend the lives of their waste, preventing them from going directly to the landfills.
-
Huey Teo manages a woodworking factory started by her parents. With the pandemic, she decided to diversify the family business and adopt more sustainable methods in the manufacturing processes of the company. This has led to the collaboration with Offcut Factory in adapting excess materials and offcuts into innovative new products.
