All about DSA

Over the past 6 years, many GATE Alumni have achieved success at DSA to their dream IP schools, mainly RI, HCI, RGS, NYGH, NUSH. During our online GEP DSA talk, our directors will address the following:

• Is Math Olympiad the only way to DSA?
• Route to DSA through English, Science, and leadership
• Which school system (A Level/ IB) is suitable for my child?
• How do IP schools assess candidates? School results? Achievement in competitions?
• Why was national top ranking Math Olympiad’s DSA candidate rejected by the top schools?

Ms Claudia Chng

BBA (1st Class Honours, National University of Singapore)

Chartered Accountant (Singapore); FCCA (UK); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

Post Graduate Study in “Gifted Education Practice”

Claudia was awarded the MOE undergraduate scholarship to read Business Administration, and graduated with a First Class Honours from NUS.  She is a Chartered Accountant (Singapore), FCCA (UK) and Chartered Financial Analyst with CFA Institute.

Claudia has developed a strong interest in special education (Gifted Education) as a mother whose three children have been selected for the Singapore GEP programme, Mensa junior members, and DSA to top IP schools. Her eldest child graduated from NUS High School, and is accepted by top three UK universities (University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and University College London).  Her second child secured DSA confirmed offers from RGS and NYGH, and went on to study in school based gifted education programme with humanities scholarship from MOE. Claudia has done her post-graduate study in “Gifted Education Practice”, and nurtured gifted and high ability children who have received confirmed DSA offers from NUS High, NYGH, RGS, and SJII, etc.

Claudia has been invited by Mensa Singapore to give talks about “Gifted Children and their education path” to Mensa Junior member parents, and interviewed by newspaper and parenting magazines on gifted education.  She is able to help craft a unique profile for each student to enhance the success rate in school application.

Dr Fang Ning

Ph.D in Bio-Engineering (Nanyang Technological University of Singapore)

Post Graduate Study in “Gifted Education Practice”

Dr Fang has been tutoring NTU undergraduates for many years (physics and mathematics) before crafting a niche for herself in both Math and Physics’ specialist teaching path.

Dr. Fang was awarded NTU scholarship to pursue her Ph.D. degree in 2000. She was also an awardee of the first batch of Singapore Millennium Pre-doctoral Fellowship in 2002 and Millennium Post-doctoral Fellowship in 2003. Singapore Millennium Fellowship (SMF) is a highly prestigious honour awarded only to top 1% researchers in selected areas from NUS, NTU and Research Institute.  Dr. Fang is the only one who got both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowship and published quite a number of high quality research papers in well-known international journals. 

As a gifted learner and scholar herself, Dr Fang understands the learning desire and unique thinking process of gifted learners. She is famous for her Olympiad math programmes which prepare students for the National Math Olympiad (NMOS) organized by NUS High School, RI Math World Competition organized by Raffles Institution, and SMOPS organized by Hwa Chong Institution. Her students have won many medals from the prestigious Olympiad math competitions. Dr Fang is specialized in Hwa Chong Institution, Raffles Institution, and NUS High DSA application with proven track record. Dr Fang’s child has been accepted by RI, NUS High and Hwa Chong (confirmed offers).

Mr Chng Hock Huat

Master of Arts (Manchester University)

Entrepreneur of the Year, Singapore ASME, 2004

Mr Hock Huat was the winner of the Association of SME Entrepreneur of the Year 2004 Award in Singapore and is currently a board member of two public-listed companies listed on the Singapore Exchange. He is a member of the Citizen Consultative Committee (CCC) at Nanyang CC and the Vice Chairman of the CCCMC, heading the selection panel for awards of scholarships and bursaries to the undergraduates, youth leaders and needy families. He has been frequently invited to speak at forums and seminars of both public and private sectors.

Mr Chng Hock Huat was the Founder / Chief Executive Officer for Opentech Pte Ltd from 1998 to 2006. After its acquisition by Keane Inc., a USD 1Billion NYSE-listed IT service company, Mr Hock Huat was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of its Asia Operations.

Between 2006 to 2010. He subsequently left to pursue his interest in fine art and was awarded Masters of Art Business by the Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Manchester University, London in 2012. He is currently an investor and board advisor in a few promising technology and education start-up companies.
