About this event

Ship repair and construction is an essential facet of our maritime industry - one that involves the hard work of countless people in the background who ensure ships are seaworthy and capable of sailing the varied oceans around us.

Join us as we explore shipbuilding operations up close and speak with long-time engineers, fitters, and captains about the nuances of working in the industry!

Who should come?

• Participants must be 13 years old and above to participate in this tour.

• This tour involves some climbing of ladders and staircases and may not be suitable for participants with mobility issues.

Duration & Meeting Place

• Approximate Duration: 2.0 hours

• Language: English

• Please meet at the Taxi/Bus Drop-Off Point of Dover MRT Station (near Exit A Street Level). A bus will ferry participants to and fro the site.

• The tour will proceed rain or shine.

What to bring?

• Participants must wear covered shoes with a good grip. Slippers and sandals are strictly not allowed. Participants without proper footwear will not be allowed on the shipyard premises.

• Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably.

• Bring along hand sanitiser, insect repellent, EZ-Link card, a bottle of water and an umbrella.

• If you have earphones with a standard 3.5mm audio jack, please bring them along (for radio guides during the tour).

• Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.

• Photography is allowed at the shipyard.

• Participants are expected to don on helmets and inflatable life vests for the tour.

Other important information

• Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration.

• Event is not wheel-chair friendly.

• Parking is not available at the premises. Kindly park your car near Dover MRT.

• All proceeds will go to My Community to sustain the costs of running the tours.
