About this event

Join YST contemporary music ensemble OpusNovus for a thrilling evening of cutting-edge music as it prepares for its China debut at the 2025 Shenzhen Belt & Road International Music Festival!

Committed to presenting groundbreaking repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries, the ensemble empowers young musicians to explore and engage with the evolving language of contemporary music through performance, collaboration, and experimentation.

The ensemble performs works by leading international composers and actively champions Southeast Asian voices. They have shared the stage with acclaimed groups such as the London Sinfonietta and Ensemble Phoenix Basel, and collaborated with guest conductors like Steven Schick and Jürg Henneberger.

The ensemble made its debut tour to Australia in 2023. Through bold programming and fearless performances, OpusNovus continues to shape a distinctive voice for new music in Singapore and beyond.

In partnership with the CUHK Shenzhen School of Music.

Out of respect for the participants and other spectators, no children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission.

Inspirational life-affirming music-making is at the heart of the YST Conservatory. Centred in one of the world’s most dynamic countries, YST is uniquely placed to offer a distinct and powerful contemporary Asian voice.

The Conservatory brings together a world-class faculty and facility to nurture students in performance, composition, production and engagement. Through our undergraduate, graduate, continuing education and youth offerings, we connect dynamically with the surrounding musical ecosystem. We host a vibrant performance calendar with around 200 concerts annually, featuring students and faculty alongside international artists. Our community engagement programme has extensive local and global reach. Students are supported to find their own artistic pathways through exchanges, festivals, competitions and projects. More broadly, our international networks further enhance the educational experience and ensure our continued evolution.
