The module adopts a practical hands-on approach to preparing students for an online group discussion to solve issues presented in a case scenario as part of an assessment centre in screening job candidates. Students will learn the differences between face to face and online group discussions and prepare adequately to solve problems with a critical mind, showcasing their ability to work with others, contribute constructively and lead teams in discussions and problem solving on an online platform. They will have opportunities to practise skills learnt with a case scenario for discussion.
Aim: To help students demonstrate the ability to solve problems, think critically, lead and work with others in group discussions online to increase their chances of getting hired.
Specific aims: By the end of the module, students will have learnt to:
1. work and negotiate with others in live online problem solving
2. contribute constructively and assertively in online group discussions
3. demonstrate interactional competence through active listening and skillful navigation of turn-taking online
4. handle case scenarios with critical analysis of information and issues
5. show leadership in discussion and problem-solving
