Trained in the mythical kingdom by the venerable masters in the art of lost wax casting. Based in the sunny island of Singapore, where we're seeing an epidemic resurgence of all things crafty, The Imperial Smithster is here to satisfy your craving for all things bespoke. We have made it our soul purpose in life to supply all budding craftsmen/underpaid apprentices/students/old birds with custom metal castings.Using a wide variety of techniques such as lost wax casting/red sand/techniques-that-shall-not-be-named, we're able to provide you with custom made metal hardware/sculptures/jewellery at lightning speeds and low minimum order quantity. We're able to cast in all sorts of metal (pewter, tin, zinc, aluminum, brass, bronze, silver and gold...) and subsequently have them finished in a finishing to your liking (electro-plated, brushed, matte, high-shine, hammered...)

Lost wax casting has been around for centuries and have been used since the early days to cast items such as weapons, sculptures and jewellery out of brass. It involves first, sculpting of a wax model, applying the right sprues, pouring a investment over the wax model, burning out the wax (hence the term lost wax casting), then pouring in molten metal into the cavity left by the evacuated wax.

Come make your very own miniatures from pewter!!

-Choosing the right master model

Learn the many techniques employed in the industry, including 3d printing, wax carving...

-The secrets to mould making

Learn about the different types of silicon used.

Cut your very own silicon mould the professional way.

-Metal characteristics

Have you ever wondered why does your silver bracelet turn black? We'll explain the different metals used and you'll get to pour and melt your own pewter.

-Lost wax casting in the industry

Learn how pieces are mass produced amd finished with the different polishing techniques.

Workshop Workflow:
-Students get to choose from a wide variety of ready- printed miniatures , or get to carve your very own miniature from a block of wax. (If you would like us to print your very own 3d models, please do notify us 2 days before the commencement of class, for a wide range of ready designs, please see thingiverse.com)

-Make a silicon mould out of carved wax, leave it aside to cure

-Practice the professional way of cutting moulds

-Get to melt and pour pewter (low melting point metal) in your very own mould made earlier

-Cutting off sprues and polishing the piece to perfection.

-Take back your own wax carving, moulds and final finished piece.
