About this event
Play and Pedagogy: 2 models for Educational Practitioners is a workshop designed for educational practitioners in both traditional and non-traditional settings. Delve deeper into how educators can deliver content and positively motivate learners in the classroom through games.
Run by experiential game designers with formal teaching experience, this seminar aims to give participants another effective tool to add to their educational toolbox.
The workshop will focus on:
- What makes a game?
- How to apply game mechanics effectively in the classroom to engage learners and deliver content.
Please note that this workshop is only for participants 18 and above.
Facilitator
Curious Chimeras are a game design house specialising in experiential gaming. Our game design focus lies in tabletop roleplaying games and other immersive, narrative-driven games.
Alanna has a Masters of Arts in Communication from Purdue University, where her research focused on the importance of play and the power of games and how these would apply to real world settings.
Prior to the Curious Chimeras, Alanna taught General Paper and Project Work in a local junior college for 7 years. She received several teaching awards in this period, including the Innovation Award, the Best Teaching Practice Award (awarded twice) and the Most Caring Teacher Award.
Cancellation:
The workshop can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the workshop date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.
Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to 5 working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Those who did not turn up at the workshop will not receive a refund.
Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation and withdrawal policy and accept the terms contained therein.
Please note there is no lift to the venue.
