Enjoy a casual conversation with our new friends. Light snacks will be provided. This segment will be free and easy. Families are welcome to leave during or after this segment.

About this event

I SAAC Singapore's AAC Also Can team is going to the community! We are watching a play at the Esplanade.

During this event, we will:

  • Watch a short, sensory-friendly play (Koko the Great)
  • Meet friends/ families of AAC users during the event
  • Spend time after the event to interact and chat
  • The group will include AAC users, their caregivers and volunteers who will support interactions on AAC systems

Each registration for this event will include:

  • PLAYtime tickets for 1 AAC user + 1 caregiver (all AAC users must be accompanied by a caregiver)
  • Light refreshments after the play (at a suitable and halal cafe at the Esplanade)

Please note that Esplanade PLAYtime performances are recommended for children aged 3 to 6 years. Participants can click here to view a snippet from an earlier performance to decide if the show is suitable for them

Who is ISAAC - Singapore?

We are the official Singapore chapter of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC), a community-run society that strives to increase Awareness of AAC use.

What is Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)?

AAC is a set of tools and strategies that an individual uses to solve everyday communicative challenges. Communication can take many forms such as: speech, a shared glance, text, gestures, facial expressions, touch, sign language, symbols, pictures, speech-generating devices.

Is the space wheelchair accessible?

Yes, access in and around Esplanade is wheelchair accessible.

I don't use an AAC system. Can I still participate?

This event is aimed towards AAC users and their family members. AAC Also Can events (by ISAAC Singapore), like this one, include volunteers. If you are keen to volunteer for our events, reach out to us at hello@isaac-singapore.org

Will transport be provided?

Yes. ISAAC Singapore has arranged for wheelchair accessible shuttle vans to ply from City Hall MRT to the Esplanade (the venue) and back. The time of the vans plying to and fro will be shared with registered participants.
