Are you ready to just sing? Please Sing Casually is a 90-minute vocal gathering for anyone who wants to explore their voice in good company — with zero pressure to perform, perfect, or be impressive.

This is a space for people who sing in showers, whisper melodies into their phones, or hum quietly to themselves while walking home. Whether you sing confidently or cautiously, there is room for your voice here.

We begin with breath and simple sound — humming, sighing, toning. From there, we ease into collective improvisation and singing a familiar pop hit. Each session closes with a group-created song that gathers what we shared, heard, and felt along the way.

You are welcome to participate with your full voice, your quiet presence, or anything in between.

Persons with speech challenges and your loved ones are welcome to participate, such as persons with aphasia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. You have to be accompanied by a caregiver if you require assistance.

What to Bring

  • A water bottle to stay hydrated
  • Clothes you feel comfortable moving and sounding in
  • Your voice — exactly as it is

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to sing?

Not at all. This space is made for people who sing in showers, cars, or not at all. If you have a voice, you are welcome.

What kind of singing will we do?

No set songs or scores. We explore sound together — humming, toning, simple melodies. We might sing a song that will become a earworm at the end of the day.

Is this a choir?

We consider this more than a choir. It is a music playground.

Will we sing in languages other than English?

For now, we will mostly sing in English — but may explore other languages in future sessions.

What if I feel shy?

You can listen. You can hum. You can join in when you are ready. There is no need to perform, impress, or be “good.”

Who is this for?

Anyone curious about reconnecting with their voice. Especially welcome are folks who were once told they could not sing, or who feel unsure about their creativity. We attract a lot of former choir members who don't want to join a choir. We are not sure why...!

Is it accessible?

We welcome participants with vocal limitations or neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, Parkinson’s, dementia) who wish to be part of the space.

Why is it called Please Sing Casually?

It playfully riffs on the other PSC (IYKYK), where merit and measurement often dominate. In our PSC, we practice something entirely different: imperfection, presence, and permission. It’s a space Where singing is a way to return to ourselves, not to impress anyone else.
