Pre-Event FOLKS 2025: Gender, Power, and Inequality
Overview
Pre-Event Foreign Policy Talks (FOLKS) 2025 is an interactive forum organized by FPCI Chapter UIN Jakarta. As a prelude to our Main Event, this session focuses on the theme “Gender, Power, and Inequality: Challenging the Normalization of Violence”.
We aim to dissect how unequal power relations and ingrained social norms often normalize gender-based violence (GBV). In this special Disclusive (Direct Inclusive) Talks, we invite you to (Place) to discuss these issues with two distinguished experts: Ferinda Khairunnisa F., S.H., LL.M. (Legal Journalist) and Dr. Ana Sabhana A., M.I.P. (Lecturer in Gender and Politics).
What will we discuss?
- How power and gender identity interact to create inequality.
- The intersection of media, law, and politics in framing GBV cases.
- Forms of violence often normalized in society (domestic violence, verbal abuse, economic control).
- Structural challenges and why survivors are often reluctant to report.
- The urgency of policy reform and cross-sector collaboration.
