Project Starlight: Mood Catchers Making

By Brahm Centre 百仁中心

Overview

Exclusively for youths in secondary school

This workshop introduces participants to the craft of creating dreamcatchers using simple materials and personal charms.

They are strongly encouraged to explore their creativity by choosing what they wish to hang on their dreamcatcher- such as shells, beads, or items they bring from home- and decorating the provided mood papers.

As participants focus on weaving the threads and assembling their design, they are guided to engage mindfully in each step to help them relax and bond with those around them. This activity highlights how hands-on art can support emotional expression, reduce stress, and promote overall wellbeing.

This workshop allows participants to:

  • Participants will learn how to design and assemble their own dreamcatcher using threads, charms, shells, and personal items.
  • Participants will practise expressing their feelings by decorating and writing on mood papers to include in their dreamcatcher
  • Participants will develop mindfulness and focus as they weave, tie, and decorate their creations step by step
  • Participants will understand how creative activities can help them relax, manage stress, and care for their emotional wellbeing
