We’ve heard this debate many times - should you rent or buy a property? Which is more cost effective? Is renting better because there is an opportunity cost with putting the down-payment on your house?

Well, these are some of the questions we'll be answering in our new Real Estate series. The rent or buy seminar is the beginner course of this series and will set a good foundation for understanding the numbers behind renting and buying.

About the Speakers:

Michele Ferrario, Co-founder and CEO of StashAway

Michele spent half of his career in and around financial services, as a consultant to large financial institutions at McKinsey & Co., and then as a Private Equity investor.

He then spent the second part of his career building consumer internet companies, most recently as Group CEO of ZALORA, where he was responsible for it growing 15x and becoming the undisputed leader in the market.

Michele holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and in 2016 was invited by Singapore’s Minister of Finance to be a member of the Singapore's Committee for the Future of the Economy.

Adrien Jorge, Founder and CEO of Propseller

Adrien Jorge is the Founder and CEO of PropTech startup Propseller. Propseller is the modern real estate agency currently active in Singapore. It offers property sellers a reliable and effective way to sell, for only 1% commission.

Raised in a family of real estate agents and developers, Adrien graduated with a Bsc in Political Economy from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and an Msc in Management from ESSEC Business School (France). Adrien and his wife net wealth is currently invested into 75% real estate (four rental properties), 15% equity (passively managed 60% ETF, 40% stock picking), 5% Crypto and 5% Cash.

Amanda Ong, Country Manager of StashAway, Singapore

Before joining StashAway, Amanda held various roles in the Financial Services industry, most recently handling investment advisory to Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients in the Wealth Management and Family Office Team of Lighthouse Canton. Prior to that, she serviced portfolios of institutional clients in the Securities and Fund Services Team at Citibank.

Currently, Amanda is the Country Manager of StashAway in Singapore. She also heads Public Relations for StashAway regionally and is a Wealth Advisor to our High Net Worth and UHNW clients. Previously, she led StashAway's Client Experience team of more than 47 people in 5 countries (Singapore, UAE, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand). Amanda is a Licensed Representative with the Monetary Authority of Singapore for Asia Wealth Platform, the legal entity of StashAway.

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction), with a double major in Accounting and Finance from the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
