The Secrets of Successful Networking

Please read this article about the importance of networking: https://hbr.org/2016/04/5-misconceptions-about-networking.
REMEMBER: ‘If you don’t have time for networking, then you don’t have time for your career’.
You have probably heard it more times than you can count "Network! Network! Network!". As daunting as it may sound, networking is important because it opens doors to opportunities in your business, career and personal life.
Reframing Networking: Networking is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and relationships, and seeing how you can help others. If you are looking for inspiration, seeking changes, expanding your network, hoping to find a mentor come join us over an evening of food and drinks and reframe the way you network.
3 tips to reframing networking:
Tip 1: "How can I help someone today?"
Networking is essentially all about helping. When you connect people, you are helping someone. When you extend your ears to someone else, you are helping her/him be heard. Don’t worry if you’re the youngest person in the room with the least amount of professional experience. If you bring a unique perspective and speak up, you’re a valuable asset. Connect with someone during the session by remembering what they are interested in, follow up with an article you may have read that could be of interest to them.
Tip 2: Set a goal for yourself
It could be a small goal like "I will aim to initiate one meaningful connection today". Or, look through the list of participants and find two people you would like to connect with. After you have hit your goal, celebrate! Grab a drink, eat something, share with a friend or two, allow yourself to take a breather. Then consider pushing yourself further with another goal ;)
Tip 3: Don't be afraid to end a conversation
Networking is an opportunity to meet different people from various backgrounds. After you have formed your meaningful touchpoint, offer to introduce them to another mentee/mentor. This allows you to form more meaningful connections and you can then can move on to make more for yourself.

We look forward to seeing you on 12th!

Warmest regards
Louise & Nicole
