About this event
A great weekend in store for us as trombonist and musical anarchist Q Sound brings his brand of rhythmic and melodic magic to the Jazz Loft for the first time. He will be joined by Soh Wen Ming on drums, Aiman Radzi on bass, Chee Seng on guitar, and Chok Kerong on piano.
Doors open at 7.00pm
Sets at 7.45 and 9.15pm
Cover charge $22 for both sets.
ABOUT Q SOUND
Q Sound is an American multi-instrumentalist, producer, recording artist and experienced orchestral musician based in Kuala Lumpur. He composes and performs music derived from his eclectic bag of influences, including jazz, R&B, and hip-hop.
Considered by many to be one of the major forces in the current Southeast Asia music scene, Q Sound maintains a busy schedule performing as a soloist, band leader and musical director.
A graduate of The Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied both classical and jazz performance under the guidance of Joseph Alessi, Wycliffe Gordon, and Steve Turre.
Originating in the USa, his music evolved performing in churches jazz clubs and events, and also with leading symphony orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic. He has worked with the Jazzaar Jazz Orchestra, while also appearing in many jazz venues and festivals. This gives some idea as to the unique blend and stylistic compass of his music and his approach to the formation of his dynamic ensemble projects.
Since relocating to Southeast Asia he has been featured with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, along with numerous artists from the jazz anf popular music scene.
Q Sound leads three diverse musical projects:The Q Sound Band, The Lawrence Jazz Ensemble, and Q Sound & The 2nd Line. Each ensemble features predominantly Malaysian musicians.
